Arlington: Crafts and bake sale

The Stillaguamish Senior Center will open its doors from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday to the community to enjoy a day of arts, crafts and bake sale. The center is located at 18308 Smokey Point Blvd, Arlington.

Everett: Learn about mushrooms

A mushroom show is planned from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday at Forest Park, Floral Hall, 802 East Mukilteo Blvd., Everett. It’s free to the public.

A mushroom identification class also is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Lions Hall sponsored by the Snohomish County Mycological Society in cooperation with Everett Parks and Recreation Department.

Everett: Republican club to meet

The Snohomish County Republican Women’s Club is inviting the public to its meeting at 11 a.m. Thursday. Rebecca Phillips, from the Freedom Foundation, will speak about recruiting the younger generation and finding ways to get youth involved in politics. The meeting is at Shawn O’Donnell Restaurant, 122 128th St. SE, Everett.

An optional lunch costs $13. People are asked to RSVP to Dorothy Yoney at 360-658-0479.

Lake Stevens: Salmon fair set

Sound Salmon Solutions and Adopt a Stream Foundation are putting on a salmon fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 124 Ave. NE alongside Catherine Creek in Lake Stevens.

Admission is free, no RSVP required. The fair is being organized with the help of local community member Aaron Hoy and the Bridgeport at the Crossings Home Owners Association, www.bridgeportatthecrossings.org/. Attendees should dress for the weather.

Stanwood: GMO film series planned

A food and GMO-awareness film series will be shown at the Stanwood Public Library during the month of October. The free films are scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday night.

The shows are:

Oct. 9 — “Farmageddon,” which tells the story of small, family farms that were providing safe, healthy foods to their communities but were forced to stop;

Oct. 16 — “Bitter Seeds,” about ag company Monsanto’s impact in India;

Oct. 23 — “The World According to Monsanto,” an investigation into Monsanto’s corporate practices around the world;

Oct. 30 — “Genetic Roulette,” a documentary about Monsanto’s tactics and the dangers of GMOs.

Terrace: Chat over coffee about city
