Edmonds: Edmonds hires city clerk
The city of Edmonds hired Scott Passey to serve as city clerk.
Passey, 47, who lives in Edmonds, has been the city clerk for Shoreline since June 2005. Prior to that, he was the deputy city clerk and communications assistant for Shoreline since 2002.
Before coming to Shoreline, he worked as a legislative assistant for three years.
He will earn $97,488 a year.
Marysville: Touch a truck
Marysville plans to hold its annual Touch-A-Truck event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdayat Totem Middle School’s Asbery Field, 1605 7th Street NE.
The event allows kids to get in the driver’s seat of a variety of big rigs — dump trucks, backhoe, vactor truck, police vehicles, street sweeper, fire engines, garbage trucks, an aid car and more. Community Transit will bring along one of its Double Tall buses.
The Marysville Noon Rotary Club will offer special activities for kids, and Marysville Kiwanis will have treats for sale.

Marysville: Help with applying for college
Marysville Parks and Recreation is offering a workshop for students applying for college. The workshop is to be held from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 28 is taught by Matt Stokes, educator and former Western Washington University Admissions employee. The cost is $20. Snohomish: Apply for tourism grants
The city is accepting applications from nonprofit agencies for projects that assist tourism development and promotion in Snohomish. The program is funded through taxes imposed on lodging room rentals. Funds will be available after Jan. 1 on a reimbursement basis only for projects that will be completed by Dec. 31, 2014. It is anticipated that the total amount of available funds will be $7,000.
Applications are due in the City of Snohomish offices at 116 Union Avenue, Snohomish, WA 98290, by 4 p.m. Sept. 25. Applications received after that time will not be considered.
