Arlington: Sales tax hike on ballot

The city of Arlington plans to put a sales tax increase on the Aug. 6 ballot.

If approved, the city’s new Transportation Benefit District would impose a 0.2 percent sales tax in order to maintain, repair and preserve 126 streets in the city.

The tax, which has a limit of 10 years, is estimated to generate an average of $600,000 of additional revenue a year for road work.

A detailed list of the proposed improvements, cost and priorities are posted on the citys website, www.arlingtonwa.gov.
