Arlington: Blood drive Saturday

The family of the late Elliot Carbajal plans a blood drive in his memory from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Arlington City Council chambers, 238 N. Olympic Ave. Carbajal, who was killed in a physical confrontation three years ago, is remembered by many for riding his mountain bike through town wearing shorts, no matter what the weather.

Camano Island: Seeking contractor for animal control

Island County is looking for a qualified contractor to provide animal control services for Camano Island.

The budget for animal control on the island is less than $40,000 a year. Services required include regular patrols and investigation of potential dog ordinance violations. Minimum qualifications include two years of experience in animal control or law enforcement. Proposals are due no later than 9:30 a.m. Dec. 6.

Darrington: Bazaar funds school activities

Darrington’s PTSA plans to hold its annual holiday bazaar from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Darrington Elementary School, 1075 Fir St. This year’s theme is Country Shabby Chic. Pictures with Santa, who will arrive via helicopter, are scheduled until 2 p.m. Breakfast is 9 to 11 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Door prizes and face painting are scheduled all day.

Marysville: Firefighters plan food drive

Marysville firefighters plan a food drive next week at the Safeway store at 1258 State Avenue.

They plan to be at the store with Santa collecting donations of food, unwrapped toys and cash from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Dec 7.

Donations go to the Marysville Community Food Bank. Santa also will have candy canes to share.
