B.C. climber dies in fall near Leavenworth

LEAVENWORTH — A climber from British Columbia died in a fall Tuesday night southwest of Leavenworth.

Chelan County sheriff’s Sgt. Kent Sisson said 37-year-old Amy R. Stein of Squamish was walking down from the Snow Creek Wall with other members of a climbing party when she jumped out of the path of falling rock and fell about 70 feet.

She died at the scene and her body was recovered Wednesday.
