SEATTLE — Bail has been set at $500,000 for a 25-year-old man accused of stealing an SUV with a 10-month-old child inside in West Seattle.
The Seattle Times reports that a judge on Thursday found probable cause to hold for Estevan Lucio Sanchez for investigation of kidnapping and auto theft in Wednesday’s incident.
The man is accused of taking the vehicle after the baby’s father went into a convenience store. Police say the father yelled that his daughter was inside as the SUV was being driven away. The SUV and child were found a short time later.
Police made an arrest about an hour after the father reported the vehicle stolen.
Seattle police say it’s an important lesson for parents never to leave their children in a car.
