BREMERTON — The aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan arrived in Puget Sound on Tuesday for a year-long stay at Bremerton.
The ship will undergo a $218 million overhaul at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
The Kitsap Sun reported that the carrier’s home port has been changed administratively from San Diego to Bremerton for the extended stay by the 2,500 sailors and their families. Their cars were transported on the carrier’s deck.
The shipyard will finish maintenance next month on the USS Nimitz, which will move to its home port at Everett.
