PORTLAND, Ore. — Clackamas County emergency responders say bystanders saved the life of a 60-year-old soccer player.
The man collapsed while playing a game early Sunday afternoon.
A doctor and off-duty paramedic used CPR and an Automatic External Defibrillator on the man, who was unconscious and not breathing.
The Oregonian reported that the bystanders delivered one life-saving shock to bring the patient back into a viable heart rhythm.
Clackamas County Fire crews used an Advanced Life Support to stabilize the patient. He was transported to Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center.
