SPOKANE — Car thefts are at a four-year high in Spokane. Police report an average of 43 vehicles were stolen each week in 2012.
KXLY reported the averages were 39 a week the year before, 41 in 2010 and 35 in 2009.
Police Officer Jennifer DeRuwe said one thing owners can do this time of year is not leave your car to let it warm up. She said it only takes a bad guy a few seconds to steal a car that has been left unattended with the engine running.
