WHIDBEY ISLAND — Celebrate Earth Day at a weekend festival on Whidbey Island.
There will be a celebration from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday to welcome the return of the resident gray whales as they make their way from Mexico to the Bering Sea. The celebration will be on the Langley waterfront.
The film “Carbon Nation” will be screened at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Whidbey Telecom Customer Experience Center, 1651 Main St., Freeland.

The Earth Day celebration will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Bayview Cash Store and Bayview Corner in Langley.
The event will feature a dance circle and community photograph.
Author Vicki Robin will give the keynote address at 12:30 p.m. Robin is the co-author of “Your Money or Your Life.” She is working on a book about local eating.
The improv troupe, Comedy Island, will perform “Mother Earth versus World’s People” at 2:15 p.m.
There also will be workshops on sustainable gardening, children’s activities and food.
Admission is free.
Bayview Corner, located at 5603 Bayview Road, is seven miles from the Clinton Ferry dock on Whidbey Island.
