Cheetah brothers enjoy off-leash run

HOUSTON — Two fast cats from the Houston Zoo have marked International Cheetah Day by running around without their leashes.

The 6-year-old male siblings name Kito and Kiburi on Wednesday scampered about at the Houston Sports Park. It’s the complex where members of the Houston Dynamo soccer team practice.

Zoo officials say the cheetahs were clocked at more than 40 mph while chasing a lure.

The same two cheetahs last December were allowed to run through part of the Sam Houston Race Park track a week before the horses were on hand.
