Assistance League elects new presidentAssistance League of Everett recently installed Donna Day as its new president to lead the organization through the next fiscal year. Day, longtime Everett resident, joined the all-volunteer organization in 2004 and has held various positions including president elect and vice president of philanthropic programs. Prior to joining Assistance League she was involved with her son’s PTA and Cascade High School Band Boosters.
Assistance League of Everett is an all-volunteer organization whose philanthropic programs have served children, teens and adults in Snohomish County since 1965. One of the organization’s most well-known programs, Operation School Bell, provides free clothing to children in need throughout 15 Snohomish County school districts.
Lynnwood VFW recognized nationallyVeterans of Foreign Wars Post 1040 of Lynnwood was recently selected to receive the VFW National Citation certificate in the organization’s Community Activities National Awards Program for Special Projects.The Citation certificate is given in recognition of the time and effort members of the Post gave in assisting Boy Scout Troop 49’s project of installing a detailed war map of Operation Desert Storm in Lynnwood Veterans Park.
The VFW Community Activities National Awards Program for Special Projects recognizes outstanding community service projects that are over and above what is expected of VFW units.
