PORT ANGELES — A King County sheriff’s helicopter rescued a hiker with a broken ankle Thursday morning in Olympic National Park.
Park spokeswoman Rainey McKenna says the 61-year-old man broke an ankle Wednesday at O’Neil Pass, about 45 miles northeast of Lake Quinault. He was able to signal a recovery center that contacted rangers. McKenna says rangers called for the helicopter.
King County sheriff’s Sgt. DB Gates says the injured hiker was transferred to an ambulance at the Bremerton airport.
