COSMOPOLIS — Crews were able to repair a leaking effluent line at a Cosmopolis pulp mill Monday before heavy rains hit.

Cosmopolis Mayor Vickie Raines told Grays Harbor radio station KXRO (101.7 FM) none of the waste entered city storm sewers.

There also was a leak in the effluent line in October with foam gurgling out of the ground.

The Cosmopolis mill reopened earlier this year under a new owner after being closed for four years. It makes a pulp that is combined with other materials to create a variety of products, including plastics and rayon for clothing.
