EVERETT — The National Weather Service issued a flood watch Monday for all of Snohomish County.
The watch is in effect from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday. Back-to-back storms are expected to dump up to 9.5 inches of rain in the Olympic Mountains and Cascade Range.
On Tuesday, anywhere from 3 to 5 inches of rain could fall. Meteorologists predicted another 2 to 4.5 inches Wednesday.
The snow level is expected to rise above 8,000 feet. That means it will be raining on all mountains, with the exception of the highest peaks.
The excessive rain may drive rivers to flood. As of Monday evening, only minor flooding was predicted.
The Skykomish River in Gold Bar may reach flood stage Tuesday around 5 p.m. The South Fork Stillaguamish River is expected to come close to flooding late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning. The Snohomish River could rise enough to flood by Wednesday evening.
