SHORELINE — The King County Sheriff’s Office says the weapon carried by a suspected bank robber in Shoreline was an Airsoft replica of a Glock pistol.
The sheriff’s office says the orange marking used on replica guns was removed or painted over. Detectives didn’t realize it was a pellet gun until they picked it up hours after Thursday’s shooting.
The man who carried the gun was shot and killed by sheriff’s officers responding to a bank robbery. He was identified Friday as 32-year-old Jason Williams. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office said he was hit by multiple gunshots.
A second man, 47-year-old James Bartlow, was subdued with a stun gun and arrested. On Friday, he was ordered held on $1 million bail. King County prosecutor’s spokesman Dan Donohoe says Bartlow is expected to be charged next week.
The FBI believes the two men were responsible for four bank robberies and one attempt.
