SEQUIM — A Clallam County sheriff’s deputy is being credited with helping to save the life of a Sequim man who collapsed at a boat launch.
The Peninsula Daily News reported that Darrel Brewer, 67, was setting out to go crabbing Thursday evening when he suffered an apparent heart attack and fell face-first into the water wearing his chest waders. A friend pulled him out and began doing chest compressions after not finding a pulse.
Deputy Mark Millet arrived soon after and revived Brewer with CPR.
Fire district volunteers took the patient to Olympic Medical Center, where he was reported to be in serious but stable condition.
