STANWOOD — No serious injuries were reported Thursday morning when a semi-truck and trailer rolled over on northbound I-5 in the Stanwood area.
The crash was reported about 3 a.m., said trooper Keith Leary with the Washington State Patrol. Investigators believe the driver, 48, of Mount Vernon, fell asleep at the wheel and drifted onto the shoulder. He then woke up and overcorrected.
Both the truck and the trailer flipped over, but the load wasn’t lost, Leary said.
Traffic was detoured for some time. The road was cleared about four hours later. Crews also cleaned up a fuel spill from the crash.
The truck driver was taken to a Skagit County hospital as a precaution. No drugs or alcohol were involved, Leary said.
