EDMONDS — Cathy Baylor will compete for a seat on the Edmonds School Board this fall after a recount completed Tuesday confirmed her second place showing in the Aug. 1 primary.
Baylor, a nationally certified teacher of music, finished with 6,165 votes, four more than Cindy Sackett, director of operations for the nonprofit Washington Alliance for Better Schools. Results of the recount will be certified next week, Snohomish County election officials said.
Baylor will duel Deborah Kilgore in the general election for a four-year term in Position 4 on the school board. Kilgore, a research scientist, won the primary with 9,824 votes, or 44 percent.
This fall’s winner will succeed school board President Susan Phillips, who decided not to seek re-election.
