Edmonds-Woodway area leads county in early ballot returns

The Edmonds-Woodway area leads Snohomish County in early ballot returns for the Aug. 5, primary election.

Through Wednesday morning, 15.83 percent of registered voters in Edmonds, Woodway and the nearby unincorporated areas that make up the Snohomish County part of the 7th Congressional District had returned their ballots, compared to the countywide rate of 11.82 percent. While incumbent Democratic 7th District U.S. Rep. Jim McDerrmott has no credible challengers, the 21st and 32nd legislative districts, both of which overlap with the 7th Congressional District, each has at least one hotly contested primary.

The Snohomish County part of the 32nd District, including Woodway, south Edmonds and nearby unincorporated areas, in addition to Lynnwood and part of Mountlake Terrace, had an early return-rate of 12.21 percent.

The 21st District, including most of Edmonds, unincorporated areas north of Edmonds and Lynnwood and northeast of Lynnwood, all of Mukilteo and part of south Everett, had a return rate of 11.84 percent.

The Snohomish County part of the 1st Legislative District, including most of Mountlake Terrace, all of Brier and Bothell and unincorporated areas north and east of Bothell, had an early return rate of 11.17 percent.
