EVERETT — A revised proposal for redeveloping part of the Riverfront former industrial area east of I-5 is up for consideration at tonight’s City Council meeting.
A decision is possible during the council’s regular 6:30 p.m. meeting at 3002 Wetmore Ave.
Polygon Northwest earlier this year recast its plans for building about 230 single-family houses on one of the three properties that make up the Riverfront area. The parcel in question covers 40 acres next to the Lowell neighborhood where the Simpson Paper Co. mill once operated. The other parcels are the former city dump and the former site of the Eclipse Mill.
The Bellevue developer’s new plans would keep a central park green in the Simpson site and make sure that more than a third of the houses can be accessed along alleyways. The city Planning Commission reviewed the proposal last month and voted 7-0 to recommend approval.
Plans that Polygon floated last year would have departed more significantly from existing city agreements.
