EVERETT — Authorities have identified an Everett man who was shot and killed by police this weekend as Chassady LeClair, 44.
Lynnwood officers were in Everett on Saturday looking for LeClair. They allege that he had threatened to kill his girlfriend and police. A confrontation preceded the gunfire.
LeClair suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner. His death was ruled a homicide.
The ruling is a medical determination that is separate from a legal review into whether the death involved a crime.
The investigation is ongoing by the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team, or SMART. The group of detectives from throughout the county handle cases involving police use of deadly force. The officer involved was placed on leave, per standard procedure.
Upon completion, SMART cases are forwarded to county Prosecuting Attorney Mark Roe, who will determine whether the use of force was justified.
