Everett woman, 89, remains missing, last seen in Marysville

EVERETT — Ethel A. O’Neil, 89, has been missing since Wednesday.

She was headed to the Everett Mall, just a three-mile drive from her home. She planned to do some shopping.

Her family believes O’Neil, who has early signs of dementia, may have gotten lost. She was last seen in Marysville, asking for directions back to Everett.

Her family, including two sons and two granddaughters, are waiting and hoping for good news, said son Patrick O’Neil, 68, of Olympia.

Family members have been distributing fliers in Everett and Marysville. Younger folks in the family have helped get the word out to thousands of people on Twitter and Facebook.

Ethel O’Neil grew up in Port Angeles and has lived in Everett more than a decade, Patrick O’Neil said.

She is described as 5-foot-6 and about 120 pounds, with blue eyes and white hair.

She drives a blue 1987 Chevy Nova, Washington license plate ADP6803.

There hasn’t been any activity on her bank accounts, Patrick O’Neil said.

He described his mother as a gentle, mild-mannered woman who is friendly and outgoing.

One of her hobbies is traveling with a singing group to senior homes, he said.

“She’s just an overall very nice, down-to-earth woman,” he said. “I don’t know if anyone has ever said an unkind word about her. She just wants to take care of her granddaughters and her family and wants everyone to get along really well.”

Everett police are investigating.

Anyone with information should call 911.
