SNOHOMISH — A kitchen fire caused about $50,000 in damage to a house in the Snohomish area on Wednesday afternoon.

A man came home around 3 p.m. to find smoke filling his house in the 8100 block of Spada Road, east of town, said Bruce Keaton, a battalion chief with Snohomish County Fire District 4 in Snohomish.

Fire damage was contained to the kitchen, but there was smoke damage throughout the house, Keaton said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Crews from Monroe also responded.
