LYNNWOOD — A fire that started in an oil-change pit at a Lynnwood-area auto shop caused more than $75,000 damage Thursday.
Employees at Carson Cars in the 13200 block of Highway 99 reported the fire about 10:30 a.m., said Leslie Hynes, spokeswoman for Snohomish County Fire District 1.
Employees could see smoke and flames coming from the basement, she said.
Crews extinguished the fire in about 20 minutes, she said. No injuries were reported.
Investigators believe welding residue had fallen into the pit and ignited items stored there.
Crews also responded from Lynnwood and Mukilteo.
