EVERETT — A fire heavily damaged a boarded-up house on the 3900 block of Rucker Avenue on Thursday evening.

Crews responded to a call about smoke at the two-story, wood home about 7:45 p.m., Everett Fire Marshall Rick Robinson said. Because nobody was inside the home, crews decided to attack the blaze from the outside.

A likely cause and damage estimate were not immediately available.
