YAKIMA — A pickup truck fleeing from police in Yakima early Tuesday ran off a road and crashed into a house.
Police say there was no one inside the home at the time, just before 2 a.m. The truck lodged itself in a bedroom.
The man driving the truck was trapped and had to be pulled out of the wreckage by firefighters. He’s in a hospital with a broken leg and facial injuries. A woman passenger in the truck ran away.
Items found in the truck apparently had been stolen earlier in the evening.
Police had tried to stop the truck because its lights were out and no license plate was visible. The officer had broken off the chase because of the speed just before the truck crashed.
