Charity car wash
The second annual CARSTAR Soaps It Up! Car Wash at ARA Collision CARSTAR in Everett today is part of an attempt around the country to set a Guinness record for “Most Cars Washed — Multiple Venues.”
They hope to wash 4,000 cars in eight hours around America.
It’s planned for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 10721 Evergreen Way S. in Everett.
The fundraiser benefits Girls Giving Back and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Scout troops, volunteers and CARSTAR staff will be on hand to scrub.
Shop for books and DVDs: The annual Friends of the Library Book Sale begins at 10 a.m. today at the Mountlake Terrace Library, 23300 58th Ave. W. in Mountlake Terrace.
Seniors safe in Darrington: Darrington seniors will be safe tonight.
Their Senior Safe Night starts at 8 tonight and ends at 6 a.m. Sunday.
Soccer fundraiser planned: “Kicking Batten’s for Carl” is a soccer clinic and silent auction fundraiser set for today in the play fields adjacent to the Arlington Boys &Girls Club on 59th Avenue NE.
Carl Bergam, the late son of Jeff and Robin Bergam, suffered from Batten Disease, a neurological disorder that causes seizures, mental impairment, a progressive loss of sight and, finally, death. Carl died Feb. 3, 2009. There is no known cure for the disease.
The soccer clinic is at 9 a.m. the auction starts at 1 p.m. Funds raised go to the Batten Disease Support and Research Association.
