Ham radio field day

The Stanwood-Camano Amateur Club hosts a Field Day on Saturday.

It runs from noon to 3 p.m. at the Stanwood-Camano Fairgrounds, 6431 Pioneer Highway. Amateur radio operators from all around the country will set up portable radio stations and make radio contacts. Equipment and skills also will be tested.

Disaster preparedness on Whidbey: Disaster preparedness training is planned for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bayview Senior Center, 14594 Highway 525 in Langley.

Apply for leadership program: Leadership Snohomish County now accepts applications for a Leadership Challenge Program for Young Adults.

The program is designed for ages 21 to 27, who live or work in Snohomish County and want to develop their abilities as leaders.

Participants will meet from 4 to 5:30 p.m. once a month for six months. They will spend 50 to 60 hours in a leadership project for a nonprofit organization. There will be a four-hour community board training to learn how to be an effective board member. Applications will be accepted through July 31. The program begins Oct. 1.

Forum covers public access: Washington’s public records and open public meetings laws are the subject of a Washington Coalition for Open Government forum scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Plaza Room above Edmonds Library, 650 Main St.
