How to stay safe on the roads
The Mill Creek Police Department plans a free public program on safety for walkers, runners and bicyclists.
It is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. Jan. 28 and run about 90 minutes. The location is the City Council chambers at 15728 Main St. The sponsors are Run 26 and Bicycle Centre.

Have a say on firefighting: The group talking about creating a new fire department in south Snohomish County plans two public meetings with time for comment.
The city of Lynnwood and Fire District 1 are in ongoing talks about forming what’s called a regional fire authority.
One meeting is planned from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Fire Station 15 in Lynnwood. The other is the same time on Jan. 25 at the Martha Lake fire station, 16819 13th Ave. W.
The regional fire authority must be approved by voters and could go on the ballot in August at the earliest.

How to deal with an intruder: The Evergreen Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Marysville has scheduled a training on how to handle an intruder or active shooter.
Marysville police officer Stacey Dreyer plans to hold the training at 12:15 p.m. Sunday at 1607 4th Street.
