Education town hall with Reykdal

Superintendent of Public Instruction Chris Reykdal will answer questions about the funding and operation of public schools at a free forum Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Snohomish PUD auditorium, 2320 California St., Everett. Doors open at 6. The event, which is open to all who are interested, is sponsored by the 38th Legislative District Democrats and Snohomish County Democrats.

Dinner for veterans

A Veterans Appreciation Dinner is set for 6 p.m. Nov. 10 at Camano Chapel, 867 SW Camano Drive, Camano Island. Free for veterans, who can also bring a guest. Retired Marine Corps Lt. Col. Rick Throm is the keynote speaker. RSVP by Nov. 2 with choice of salmon or chicken.

USO show for Veterans Day

Sky Performing Arts and the Wounded Warrior Project present “In the Mood: The Victory Tour,” a USO-style performance with songs and sketches of the 1940s.

Performances are 2 and 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4 at the East County Senior Center (276 Sky River Parkway, Monroe), 2 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Snohomish Senior Center (506 Fourth St.), and 7:30 p.m. Nov. 10, 2 and 7:30 p.m. Nov. 11 and 2 p.m. Nov. 12 at Trinity Episcopal Church (2301 Hoyt Ave., Everett).

The show is free for retired military and active duty who come in uniform. Tickets are $16, $14 seniors, students and military.

Mill Creek encourages donations of care package items to benefit Operation Gratitude. Donations will be accepted through Nov. 1 at City Hall, 15728 Main St., or Heatherwood Middle School, 1419 Trillium Blvd. A full list of donation suggestions is available online. Monetary donations also welcome to cover shipping costs; each box costs about $15 to mail.

Foundation Breakfast coming up

Local author Mindy Halleck is to be the featured speaker at the Mukilteo Schools Foundation’s annual fundraising breakfast, 7:30 a.m. Nov. 10 at the Future of Flight Aviation Center at Paine Field. Proceeds from the event help support classroom grants, scholarships and other programs. Tickets are $50.

Edmonds Chamber benefit concert

The Edmonds Chamber of Commerce holds a benefit concert, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 Fourth Ave. N. Tickets are $25. Blues Power Revue, Medicine Hat, The Edmonds All-Stars, and Washed in Black are scheduled to appear.

Proceeds help pay for annual community events, such as An Edmonds Kind of 4th, trick-or-treating, the holiday tree-lighting and more.
