Hear WSU doctor speak

Dr. John Tomkowiak, founding dean of Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, is slated to speak at the South Everett-Mukilteo Rotary Club, at 12:15 p.m. Friday at Shawn O’Donnell’s restaurant, 122 128th St. SE, Everett. The public is invited. Lunch is $15.

Talking to kids about race

A workshop on “Kids and Race: Changing the Narrative” is set for 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 18 at Edmonds Lutheran Church, 23525 84th Ave. W, Edmonds. Jasen Frelot of Kids & Race leads this workshop for preschool to elementary age children and their parents.

Tickets are $15 child, $25 adult. Supported by the church and Chase Lake Community School.

End-of-life planning help

The Edmonds Senior Center and the Snohomish County Health Leadership Coalition offer a free workshop around advanced care directives and end-of-life discussions. “Your Life, Your Wishes” is set for 1 to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 4 at the senior center, 220 Railroad Ave.

New school open house

Washington Preparatory School, a private middle school and high school under construction in Bothell, is slated to open in fall 2018 to grades 6-9, adding one grade a year thereafter through 12th grade. The school plans to include the International Baccalaureate diploma program for juniors and seniors.

An open house is set for 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the school’s temporary site at 18323 Bothell-Everett Highway, Bothell.
