WAYS TO HELP

A Simple Gesture for food banks

A Simple Gesture is an all-volunteer program that aims to help food banks receive regular and reliable food donations.

People sign up to donate food, then place donations in an empty green reusable bag on their front porch at regularly scheduled intervals. Volunteers pick up the bags and deliver them to the food bank.

Arlington Food Bank will be the latest to start the program, beginning in 2018. The food bank seeks volunteers to help organize the effort, including people with computer experience. Volunteers also will be needed to pick up donations and sign up to be regular donors.
