Kids need backpacks

The 2010 Harvest Dinner is tonight in Snohomish.

The program helps kids who need school supplies. It’s planned for 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 330 Union Ave. It costs $10 or $25 per family, at the door.

The menu includes lasagna, bread, salad, a beverage, dessert and locally grown corn on the cob.

To make a donation, mail it to the Snohomish Community Food Bank, Box 1364, Snohomish, WA 98291, for Harvest Dinner.

Thrivent Financial sponsors this event, and will be matching fifty cents on the dollar up to $3,200.

Party in Index: Washington Climbers coalition will celebrate the purchase of Index Lower Town Wall.

Meet at noon Sunday at Index City Park at the intersection of Fifth Street and Avenue A. Planned is a barbecue, slide shows and climbing opportunities for all experience levels.

Breakfast today: A Norwegian pancake breakfast is planned from 7:30 to 11 this morning at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 2111 117th Ave. NE in Lake Stevens.
