SAR open house
Stop by the county’s Search and Rescue base from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, 5506 Old Machias Road, in Snohomish.
View the rescue equipment, live helicopter rescue hoist and hovercraft demonstrations and sit in on a number of presentations. Learn how to stay safe in the outdoors directly from the rescuers who come to the aid of those in trouble. The event is free; donations are welcome.
Snohomish County Search and Rescue is a nonprofit organization. More than 300 volunteers are involved in search and rescue operations. The organization has conducted well over 130 missions this year.

Everett Gospel Mission breakfast: The Everett Gospel Mission holds its annual community breakfast, 7:30 to 9 a.m. Oct. 8 at the convention center at Comcast Arena, 2000 Hewitt Ave. Admission is free. Donations will be requested.
