Monroe Parks and Recreation is working with Camp Fire of Snohomish County to offer two new courses.
The Baby-Sitting Basics course costs $30 and is to be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 1 and 8 in two four-hour sessions. The class is for 10- to 14-year-olds. A second round of the class is offered Nov. 16 and 23.
The other class is called “I Can Do It.” The class costs $25 and is for second and third graders. It aims to teach youngsters many different “how to” skills such as: making healthy snacks, answering telephone calls from strangers, handling emergencies, escaping from fires, plus much more.
The course runs in one-hour sessions from 5 to 6 p.m. Nov. 5, 7, 12, 14, 19 and 21. All courses are to be held in the Camp Riley Room of the Parks/Public Works building, 769 Village Way, Monroe.
