A garagesale fundraiser is planned Saturday for an 8-year-old Snohomish girl who’s been diagnosed with kidney cancer.

The fundraiser for Hazel Marrs is planned from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the small park off Cottage Lane near Ninth Street in Snohomish.

Proceeds will go toward the family’s medical expenses.

Free car wash: Brown Bear Car Wash is offering free car washes today in celebration of the 56th anniversary of the business.

People can get their car washed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Brown Bear will be giving away free “Bear Essential” car washes at all of its 21 automated tunnel wash locations in the Puget Sound area.

Owner Vic Odermat started Brown Bear in Seattle in 1957 with one location at 15th Ave W. in Seattle. Brown Bear now owns and operates car washes throughout the Puget Sound area and Spokane.

County Council candidate forum: Republican Ken Klein and Democrat Bill Blake are scheduled to answer questions Friday morning at an event hosted by the Greater Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce.

Blake and Klein received the most votes in this month’s primary and will compete for the council’s District 1 seat on Nov. 5. The district includes north county except for Tulalip.

The forum is scheduled at the Canoes Cabaret Nightclub in the Tulalip Resort Casino, 10200 Quil Ceda Blvd. Doors open at 7 a.m., with the program scheduled from 7:30 to 9 a.m.
