‘Glee’ musician to play

Musician Derik Nelson, the guitarist on the hit TV show “Glee” who also has contributed to several other TV shows, will play a full-band pop-rock concert at the Mountlake Terrace High School auditorium at 7 p.m. Friday to raise money for Mountlake Terrace’s drama program.

Tickets are $18-$25 and available in advance at Red Onion Burgers, 21005 44th Ave. W., Suite 101 in Mountlake Terrace.

Recycling event: Cascade High School’s cross country team is hosting a community metal and electronics recycling event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Cascade High School parking lot, 801 E. Casino Road.

Items that may be donated include lawnmowers, barbecues, appliances (refrigerators must have CFCs removed), printers, computers, televisions, cable, lawn furniture, chain-link fencing, office machines, DVD players, televisions, stereos, speakers — just about anything metal or electronic. Poetry reading: Poet Marjorie Manwaring will read from her book, “Search for a Velvet-Lined Cape,” 7-9 p.m. Thursday at AngelArmsWorks Studios, 230 Avenue B, Snohomish.
