Front Porch: Highway 522 closure

Highway 522 closure

The Washington state Department of Transportation continues rock blasting on Highway 522 this week. The highway is scheduled to be closed from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday between Fales/Echo Lake road and 164th Street SE.

Drivers should add at least 20 minutes to their commute while they take U.S. 2 and Highway 9 as detours. Closures are not planned while the Evergreen State Fair is open, from Aug. 23-Sept. 3.

Some 300,000 cubic yards of rock will be removed so that Highway 522 can be widened.
