Two faiths connect
Jews and Muslims in the Puget Sound plan to break ritual fast together at an event in demonstration of two faiths observing common traditions to build a stronger community.
The “Two Faiths, One God” is scheduled from 7:30 to 9:30 tonight at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Center, 19212 Highway 99, Lynnwood. It will highlight the Jewish fast of Tisha B’av and the Muslim fast of Ramadan. Speakers from Temple B’nai Torah and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community will reflect on their traditions and meanings of this day. This event is free and open to the public.
YWCA offers parenting class in Everett: The YWCA is offering a 10-session parenting class on building family strengths. Classes are from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Wednesday from July 17 through Sept. 18 at the Everett YWCA.
Registration is required, and drop-ins are not allowed. The class is free for income-eligible families. On-site childcare is unavailable currently. This is a CPS and court-approved parenting class series. Parents will learn about identifying strengths, communication, discipline and several other relevant topics. Food drive, sale: A food drive and rummage sale is planned on Saturday at Snohomish Family Medicine, 629 Ave. D across from Kusler’s in Snohomish. The event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. People are asked to bring non-perishable food items.
