Front Porch: Last chance to weigh in on county recreation facilities

Have your last word

Snohomish County parks officials are hosting a final meeting Thursday to gather the public’s thoughts about developing recreational facilities.

The meeting is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in conference room 1F07 of the county administration building at 3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.

Public comments will help the county parks department identify priorities for the next several years. The parks department also hosted meetings last year and has issued a parks survey to about 20,000 randomly selected residents of the county.

If you are unable to attend, you may email comments to sharon.swan@co.snohomish.wa.us, or write to: Snohomish County Parks &Recreation, Comp. Plan Update, 6705 Puget Park Drive, Snohomish, WA 98296.

For more information, call 425-388-6616 or go to www.snocoparks.org.

Help guide Monte Cristo visitors: People are needed this summer to provide visitor information at the historic Monte Cristo town site and cabin area and along the trails.

The stewards use one of the U.S. Forest Service cabins during day-long or multiple-day trips and help maintain the cabins, camp areas and trails.

People interested in volunteering must attend training at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Verlot Public Service Center, 33515 Mountain Loop Highway, Granite Falls.

For more information, call Matt Riggen at 360-436-2333.
