Mark Lijek, a retired Foreign Service officer who escaped capture following the 1979 revolution in Iran, will give a presentation at 6:30 p.m. May 28 at Everett School District’s Community Resource Center, 3900 Broadway, Everett.

Mark storm drains to benefit creek: The Adopt A Stream Foundation seeks volunteers to help mark storm drains with “Puget Sound Starts Here” markers near Catherine Creek, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Meet at the community park on Bryce Drive, between 35th Place NE and 125th Avenue NE in Lake Stevens.
All materials are provided, and all ages are welcome.

“Scoopy Doo,” the Puget Sound Starts Here mascot, will pose for photos with volunteers and hand out pet-waste bags.
