Fill the Boot for MDA
Lake Stevens Firefighters’ Local 3235 will “Fill the Boot” from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the intersection of Market Place and 91st Avenue, collecting spare change and dollars in their fire boots.
“Fill the Boot” is a fundraising campaign for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and all donations given at the event will go directly to MDA.
“Your donation contributes to research and studies needed to find a cure,” said firefighter Brian Kees, organizer of this year’s event. “It also helps send children with this disease to summer camps and special events throughout the year.”
Grant money available: A total of $50,000 in Snohomish County grant money is available to reimburse people for small park or infrastructure projects.
In 2013, funding went to pay for an elementary school playground and a dog park. To qualify, a project must be submitted by an applicant group and a public entity. Other restrictions apply.
The deadline to apply is Oct. 10.
