Mill Creek concerts

Mill Creek’s Children’s Summer Concert Series continues at noon Wednesdays. Concerts take place at Library Park just south of the Mill Creek Library, 15429 Bothell-Everett Highway. Donations of non-perishable food items support the Mill Creek Food Bank. More information is available at tinyurl.com/MCkidsmusic.

Name a ferry: Construction of the next 144-car ferry is under way and the Washington State Transportation Commission invites people from across the state to submit their ideas for the new boat’s name. Ferry name proposals will be accepted until Sept. 12.

Names for ferries should carry statewide significance and represent our state’s image and culture.

Specifically, names should represent such things as state symbols, tribal names, bodies of water, geographic locations, cities, counties, or relate to nautical heritage, etc.

Names should have broad familiarity, be non-offensive and meet ethical standards. Names with commercial overtones or names honoring or commemorating individuals should be avoided, but will be considered.

Submittals should be sent to P.O. Box 47308, Olympia, WA 98504-7308, or to transc@wstc.wa.gov. For more information, go to www.wstc.wa.gov.
