The annual “Mutt Strut” community dog walk will be held Saturday at Langus Riverfront Park. Owners can also enter their pooches in skills competitions, and browse vendors along the Snohomish River. The free event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
New this year is the Canine Good Citizen certification to reward dogs that have good manners at home and in the community. Dogs passing a 10-step test will receive a certificate. Dogs can also show off their special skills in the fun Pet Showcase competitions, where they can test their voices, practice jumping and catching, play “musical sit” and more. The Rover Run races offer unique running categories just for pugs, dachshunds, and large or small dogs.
Free registration is available up to 30 minutes before the events begin. Check out the rules and regulations and a full list of events at www.everettanimalservices.org.
In addition, the Snohomish County Auditor’s office will offer free microchipping for dogs and cats from 10 a.m. to noon. Dogs must be leashed and cats must be in carriers.
Finally, more than 20 puppies will be available for adoption across the street at the Everett Animal Shelter from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Visit everettanimals.org to view adoptable animals or to download an application.
