Drill at naval station
A large-scale training drill is planned at Naval Station Everett starting Tuesday through Feb. 28.
The Naval Station expects gate closures from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The annual exercise, called “Solid Curtain-Citadel Shield,” is regularly scheduled training and not a response to any specific threat, according to a news release.
Drivers and neighbors may see increased traffic and security activity around the base during this time.
TSA pre-check program: The federal Transportation Security Administration has opened four enrollment centers in metro Puget Sound, including one in Everett, where travelers can register for the TSA Pre? program, enabling them to use faster security lines at Seattle-Tacoma International and other airports throughout the country.
The Everett location is at the Port of Everett Security Building at 2900 Terminal Ave. and is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
There also are enrollment centers in Seattle, Anacortes and Fife.
