A new Washington State Connections retail store opens in Everett on Friday to serve Washington State University alumni, fans and friends in search of crimson and gray apparel, Cougar Gold cheese and Wine By Cougars.
The grand opening will feature a Cougar cheese tasting, giveaways and gift certificates. A display will highlight WSU’s accomplishments in research, teaching and community outreach.
The new store is at 2809 Colby Ave. Meanwhile, Pullman-based WSU in July will take over administration of the University Center of North Puget Sound in Everett.

Fun at the water’s edge: The Edmonds Watershed Fun Fair will be May 31 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s an opportunity to explore the connections between Edmonds Marsh, Willow Creek and Puget Sound. Events are free, and there will be a shuttle bus from downtown Edmonds to the marsh and Willow Creek.
There will be guided tours at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. of the Wildlife Habitat and Native Plant Demonstration Garden at Willow Creek Fish Hatchery, as well as a low-tide beach walk with a naturalist at 1 p.m. at Olympic Beach.
There will also be interpretive walks at Edmonds Marsh, a status update on marsh restoration, a “shorebird maze” for kids and geocaching activity.
