Police dog Buddy dies of cancer
Buddy, a former Lynnwood police dog, died last month from cancer.
Buddy worked for the department for eight years, partnered with Sgt. Cole Langdon. He was trained to find suspects and missing people, and to detect illegal drugs.
He was involved in more than 200 arrests. He retired earlier this year.
Edmonds Arts Festival kicks off: The annual Edmonds Arts Festival starts at 10 a.m. Friday. It includes art, entertainment, food vendors, a student art exhibit and a creative area for children.
The free, three-day event includes more than 200 art exhibitors on the field east of the Frances Anderson Center at 700 Main St. There will be music, dance and theater presentations at the outdoor amphitheater. The hours are 10 a.m to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Free shuttle parking is available at the old Woodway High School site, 23200 100th Ave. W. in Edmonds, and at the Port of Edmonds, 336 Admiral Way.
