Big day for boaters
The Port of Edmonds along with hundreds of other marinas across the country will e celebrate National Marina Day on Saturday by providing visitors with information on safe boating, environmentally sound practices and other training. In addition, the SeaJazz performers will be there and Celtic Cowboy will provide food for those who visit information tables and have their punch cards filled out.
The event takes place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the public plaza.
Invited presenters include the Sea Scouts, Edmonds Yacht Club, Puget Sound Anglers &Edmonds Salmon Chapter, Trout Unlimited, and the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Defensive driving course: The Ken Baxter Community Center is taking registrations for an upcoming defensive driving course open to adults age 55 and older.
Cost is $12 for current AARP members and $14 for non-AARP members.
This two-day classroom course is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday and thursday. Spaces will fill up quickly. The class will be held at Marysville Fire Station No. 66, 7217 40th St. NE.
