Recycle your metal
A metal recycling event is planned at Cascade High School on Saturday to raise money for the school’s graduation night in 2014. The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the school at 801 E. Casino Road.
Items accepted include lawn mowers, barbecues, lawn furniture, chain-link fencing and anything metal. Appliances are accepted, but refrigerators must have CFCs removed. Computers also are accepted, but not monitors. If you are unable to attend the event, schedule a pickup of your items with Suzan at 425-319-6161. Items will be picked up through August.
Book discussion: A talk on a new book called “Gifts of the Crow” is planned for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Northwest Stream Center, 600 128th Street SE, Everett. Authors John Marzluff, a wildlife science professor at the University of Washington, and Tony Angell, a naturalist and artist, plan to talk about their book that explores how perception, emotion and thought are allowing the birds to behave like humans.
People who want to attend must call and register. The cost is $7 for nonmembers and $5 for members.

Summer sports camp: The Everett Boys &Girls Club is now accepting registrations for summer sports camps. A lacrosse camp is scheduled July 23-26 and flag football and volleyball camp is scheduled Aug. 13-16. Cost is $75 with annual membership, with scholarships available for those who qualify.
